Job Description
We have immediate openings for full-time Mortgage Loan Officers. These positions are located at multiple locations throughout the Washington DC area. The individuals will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with real estate Sales Professional and clients. They will also originate and process retail mortgage loans and act as the primary representative of PenFed with Realtors and customers.

Duties:

Aggressively increase purchase money mortgage business and promote new residential mortgage business. Market, promote and sell PenFed membership, products and services within assigned operating budget. Required to meet established sales goals and ensure loan quality standards.

Promotes sales and continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of Realtor and customer business relationships.

Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine member financing objectives, advise members of product/pricing policies and guidelines.

Ensures exceptional member service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics.

Provides member’s and Realtor’s with sound mortgage advice based on a full understanding of client needs as well as PenFed mortgage products and their benefits.

Submits loans through Automated Underwriting system for loan review. Follows up on outside services such as credit reports, title, appraisals to meet deadlines. Satisfies conditions and ensures documentation meets secondary market requirements, if appropriate. Ability to learn and utilize assigned programs and technology to maintain loan documentation in a paperless lending environment.

Initiates and maintains contact with realtors and members throughout the processing period to ensure that all related parties are kept informed of loan status, conveying the appropriate level of urgency and professionalism to ensure that all expectations are exceeded. Works within authority to resolve member issues.

Ensures compliance with all PenFed policies and procedures as well as all Federal and State compliance policies, including but not limited to RESPA, REG B, REG Z, ECOA, & HMDA. Updates systems and completes required paperwork for compliance.

Develops and maintains knowledge of Conventional, VA and FHA lending policies and procedures. Understands secondary market requirements on all mortgage loan products to ensure loans are eligible for sale, if applicable.

Maintains a working knowledge of all mortgage products available through competitive organizations to accurately respond to realtor and member questions. Ensures that all conditions and closing dates are met. Identifies any issues which may impact ability to meet previously established conditions and dates in a timely manner.


Requirements
Requires a Baccalaureate degree or combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions. Five years’ experience with a proven track record in sales and business development in conjunction with meeting/exceeding individual and team sales goals.

Requires strong sales and marketing ability to promote PenFed membership, products and services.

Proven experience in sales program management to recommend and champion product penetration and expand or identify revenue opportunities.

Two to three years of mortgage lending experience preferred.

Strong attention to detail required.

Excellent analytical and math skills required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, professional and effective interpersonal skills.

Experience with mortgage loan origination systems preferred.

Ability to manage a heavy pipeline of mortgage loans.

Teamwork and customer service skills a must.

Self-motivated and highly organized.

Must exercise discretion and sound judgment, and be able to work well independently.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Requires ability to work “off hours”, that include evenings and weekends, and being “on-call” as assigned among multiple locations to meet job expectations and performance goals.

Ability to assess financial data and provide financial alternatives.
